Oh, and you can get an RSS feed from our Library Thing page, for those of you who are interested in seeing what's new.

I am so going to win this I-Pod.

The baby report: Today I am craving peanut butter and jelly and glazed donuts.

Well, I thought that I would give Technorati a second look this time around. I found a blog that has copied and pasted part of the typescript for the Lee and Grant exhibit into the blog. The person is referencing Lee's behvaior in the face of defeat as an example for those unhappy with the election results. A noble lesson and not at all what I was expecting to find.

I still do not feel like I have the time or engery to sift through this site, but it is good to keep tabs on what people are saying about you.

Favorite LT

LibraryThing now has LT Local, which lists local libraries and bookstores that members have entered. And.. someone already had the VHS listed. We also have been favorited by 2 people. If you are exploring LibraryThing, take a look at the Local tab and favorite us. I am pushing to get events listed. Its a whole new technology integrated world.

AANB

The AANB is giving me a headache. I can't handle all of the info. on Technorati right now. I need to explore it with fresh eyes tomorrow.

smrf_ette

My computer is moving slower than molasses today. Delic.iou.s seems good if I have alot of websites to save. My bookmarks always get so unruly because I do not make folders. I have not tried it on multiple computers, yet. I was disappointed that smrf (which is my initials for those of you who have not caught on) was already taken. Now, I am smrf_ette. Still cute.

Technorati has way too much going on. It is Friday and time to go home so I will talk more about this later.

Chiclet

I thought that chiclet was a kind of gum, but I added one to my website. Now you can access our virtual new bookshelf on Library Thing. I never would have been able to figure that out without doing these other exercises. Thanks Katherine!

Truthfully, though, I do still feel like I am stumbling in the dark sometimes, but I have more confidence now to at least try. I can succeed. Now, I have to work on the next 5 exercises. I am so far behind.

Finally...something I know

LibraryThing. I find that it works slower than I think it should. But, I like it and we are already using it. We did get a request to be some guys friend that I am not sure we should accept.

At Computers and Libraries, they were showing off the next step. Overlaying your LibraryThing on your OPAC. It looked neat, but I don't think that it would be right for this institution. Some people are confused enough by the OPAC. We don't want to scare them away. Oh, and I got a LibraryThing T-shirt.

Widget

I love the weather widget! Ok. So, I skipped ahead a few bc widgets sounded fun. I am getting a little tired of checking my Bloglines. It is just like checking my email. Now, if I could be alerted when there was a new post that would be nice. Back to widgets. I want to find more.

Bloglines continued several weeks later

I managed to get Bloglines set up. Setting up the RRS was not hard with that Sub Bloglines tool, but I am having trouble linking it to my blog. I found the HTML that I need to insert into my template but I don't know where. It kept giving me an error message and I finally gave up. It also said that I needed to have a standard template, which I thought that I had. I don't want to give up my fun dots background. I think that the RSS is good to have for prof. dev. and keeping up with legislative issues affecting libraires. I have the District Dispatch on my Bloglines. I just think that I will have to really stay on top of checking it.

Bloglines

I am getting a little frustrated that I have to download everything... My computer is so ancient.

I set up a bloglines account. I think that this will be great for professional development and keeping up on what is going on in the field. I selected a couple of blogs, but the site said it could not locate any at the moment and to try back. How do you find more interest specific blogs? I am going to look through my Web 2.0 notes and see if the instructor made any suggestions. The jury is still out on the ease of using Bloglines. More later...

Saturday

This is the slowest Saturday. I feel little chastised for not posting my comments about 27 Things.
(Sorry, Katherine. I really appreciate all of the work that you are putting into this.)

My computer can not handle Flash Player 8 so I feel that I do not have a good grasp of the Mashups. :( I was really excited about Flickr, but Bruce downloads the pictures from the camera onto the computer and does not label them. So, I am looking at 100s of pictures labeled DSCN88703a. Argh! I miss my old pictures that I put in the album. I really think that Flickr would be a great way of sharing pics, yet, I do not think anything can replace actually holding my wedding album and cherishing every picture on the page.

Parents

My parents were visiting this weekend. They were very impressed with my computer skills in creating this blog. They also really enjoyed Lee and Grant and will have to come back to see the rest of the exhibits.

I have barely had time to do any of the 27 Things activites. I am composing this at Bruce's school waiting for the Talent Show.

change

I decided to change my look today. I was looking for more template options, but unable to find them. I have been wearing my glasses for the past 3 days, which I hate, because of an eye problem. I felt I needed some fun to lift my spirits. I would have liked a pink or purple background.

Twitter

Right after lunch I checked out the Twitter site (I am an overachiever). I love my friends and family, but I think they would drive me CRAZY if I were that tuned into their life. I mean I don't talk to my sister and friends as much as I want to...so I can kind of see the point. But, I imagine that the novelty wears off.

What I didn't know

I feel like I should be in the know about Web2.0, but somehow I missed it. I guess that I was too busy in college having real flesh in blood experiences (going to all my friends' recitals and military balls) to have virtual ones. Anyway, I found out today that creating a blog was not that hard. In the non-Web 2.0 sector, I discovered that The Society for Colonial Wars in the Commonwealth (State) of Virginia is the only one of the original 13 colonies not to have an Authority File.
